control 24?

who has one. who loves them, who hates them...why

i am thinking about getting one, or something else like it.

i want a controller for a PT mix system. i have a moto mix - 8 channels no soutch sensitivity.
we also have a mackie d8b. it needs to be upgraded to allow hui mode, then it will be like the moto mix, 8 channels only via midi....

i like using a mixer to um ....mix. i know controll 24 is not a mixer, but i will have faders and pots again. mouse mixing really bugs me.

we do bands, rock bands..not film/post. no midi stuff...

i know these have a mixed fan club, some love em some hate em.

any one know of one for sale.

-the pre amps are cheese
-break downs are plenty
-it's a handy surface to use though

If I am free one night
Bring a mix and see what you think.
Maybe not the next few weeks as I am doing my unit up for sale..
Yeah painiting and garden :)

For faders,transport,control section cool.
For automation of plugins cool.

Adding plugins, editing etc mouse quicker.

Yep the pres are just ok. But hey I know a lot of peoepl who use mackie pres and they are ok.
Saying this I really only use teh Control24 pres for hi hat or if I run out of channels

I have one of these I use with my HD2 System and luckly I bought if from a good dealer (thanx Robert) who has loaned me his when It is if for repair. YOU WILL NEED TO CONSIDER THIS as it has been often and I dont seem to be the only one. RE: Mic Pre's not in the same league as Manly or UA but useable. I am wondering if it is just cheep components or design and weather replacing with better ones would be better as at the moment I am continplating a JLM Mic Pre Kit.
One thing I am very dissapointed with is lack of support RE: buttons on console which still have no function which leads me to beleive Digidesighn have dropped this from their TO DO LIST.
Apart from all my grumblings I havn't regreted my desision (but have had my moments) but it also may not be your only option.

If you're only looking for a control surface then you should consider a Yamaha 02R, O1V, DM1000 or DM2000. Depends what you want long term but in my humble opinion they kick ass over the control 24 AND you have a mixer that will work stand alone if you ever need it. Yamaha desks are (mostly) rock solid. I have never had trouble with them yet.

i do only want it as a controller.

do the yamaha mixers intergrate as much as the controll 24?

touch sensitive faders/ not midi resolution on fades etc?

i have a moto mix, it works but i want acess to more stuff, more faders.

plug in controll would be great.

I actualy sold my O2R 48k version for my Control 24. Maybe the newer versions may be more compatible but could'nt envisage being able to edit as easily if at all. Yahaha seems to make you have to push several buttons to get where you want to go. The control 24 is much more logical.

If the Yamaha is the same price or more I would go Control 24 and definatly wouldn't mix the audio through the O2r. The mix buss within ProTools is not as bad as some make out. More issues are with pluginns which BTW are miles above the EQ and Compressor on the O2R IMO.
The pre's on the O2r arn't any better either.

If unsure about Control 24 i'd look elswhere.
