Hey folks,
The release version of my latest Technical Ear Training application is now available for free download from http://technicalear.training
Built in Max/MSP, the Mac-only app is designed to teach students to identify the centre frequency of a parametric filter applied to any audio file/s they import into the program.
Features include:
Drag and drop playbar
Playback looping with region selection
Supports .wav, .aif, .mp3, .flac, and m4a audio files
Three difficulty modes: Easy, Hard & Bob Ludwig (these alter the number of consecutive correct questions required for level-up, and also the number of incorrect answers before level-down)
Adjustable Gain (+9dB, +6dB, +3dB, +1dB, -9dB, -6dB, -3dB, -1dB, Random Boost, Random Cuts, Random)
Adjustable Q (0.2, 0.5, 1, 2, 3, 4, 10)
Adjustable delay time between Flat and Equalised versions
Please share the http://technicalear.training URL with all of your audio engineering colleagues.
Unfortunately, as the app isn’t available in the Mac App store, you may get a security warning or error message when you try to open the app saying that it is ‘damaged and can’t be opened’ or ‘corrupted’. This isn’t the case, however you will need to temporarily modify your system’s security settings in order to get around this issue.
System Preferences > Security and Privacy > General Tab - Allow apps downloaded from: 'Anywhere’
Once you’ve done the above and run the app you can return your security settings to normal.
Cheers!
Mark.
