Gain Measuring Attenuator?

Postby a.beck » Thu Jul 21, 2016 2:45 pm

Hey, does anyone know anything about this:

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/262534343563 ... EBIDX%3AIT

Or even what it actually is? It looks cool, and is probably worth $50 as an unusable conversation piece, but I can't find any info online about what it's actually supposed to be for.

Cheers!

I had one a while back, mine had amazing old RCA / UA style knobs on it though.

It has one huge transformer inside and some massive rotary switches.

I picked it up at an ABC auction and ended up selling it a few years later.

Amazing feeling 'clunk' when switching the knobs!

It's all about the feel of the knobs

as a standalone thing its a bit useless nowadays - but you can:

- use the very handy case for building transportable rack-mounted things. i've turned one into a 12 channel phantom/DI box and the other to a 8 way mic splitter

- the knobs are great - proper RCA bakelite knobs

- switches inside are great but would take some work to re-use them.

be sure to send the meter to rob for his collection...

Seems the seller didn't like the idea of getting $50 for it - closed off the auction and relisted it as a buy it now for $200!

Yeah I sent him a message expressing my displeasure with that. No surprises that I didn't get a response.

Pretty uncool, but whatever. haha
