I need to get one of TLM170 serviced and I'm wondering if anybody has had a good experience with microphone service in Aus or should I send it direct to Neumann. I've had very varied experiences with local distributors of international products generally being very disappointed in the level of care... Any recommendations?

Better service, knowledge and skills than the actual Neumann company.

I've spoken to Gunter and he has suggested that the fault will be an SMD component that has to be replaced by a neumann rep.

what about Rob Squire?

I think if Gunter thinks it needs to go to Neumann rep then there it should go so the question is really whether I should send it to germany or to the local reps. Anybody got experience with the locals?

the "local reps" will locate in which part of the mic the fault lies and replace the whole circuit board or assembly
if the capsule is dirty, they will replace it
if there is a faulty smd part they will replace the whole circuit board

neumann parts are very expensive and they do not offer trade prices to service centres.

did you ever find a solution for your TLM servicing?
