Cascade/Legacy ribbon mics nowhere to be seen?

Postby Chris H » Fri Apr 28, 2017 3:57 pm

As the title suggests, I have been looking around on the net and it seems the Chinese knock off of the Royer/ Bang & Olufsen ribbon mics have vanished from the Australian market, only to be found on web pages with an Australian address but based in the US. for example:
http://www.fishpond.com.au/Electronics/ ... 9124279026

Is anyone Importing into Australia? what's happened since i last looked for a ribbon a few years ago?.......is there some evil conspiracy going on? :ar!

Really? That's odd. There's OPR and Nude Ribbons selling chinese ribbons both raw and modded.

We have a Cascade X-15 stereo ribbon fitted with Lundahl transformers purchased from B&H in late 2013.
It's been our go to mic for our 100 year old pump organ generally in M/S with a stereo Cloudlifter.

Cascade don't list an Australian distributor on their website and AFAIK they never have (closest is NZ).

Incidently Myles, were you in 'The General Food Store' in Emerald the other morning?

Indeed I was in the General Food Store in Emerald Wednesday morning. I was up there for a radio spot with David Carr on his Producer's Corner show.

I also have a chinese stereo ribbon I upgraded with lundahl transformers that I occasionally use in MS in a range of situations, it's surprisingly good.
