Personally I reckon the 1176 and api style pres are the pick. Not 'accurate' but they sound good and do the job.

There's stuff I prefer over the other bits of gear I've tried – the jlm la500 for example gets a lot more use / is more useful for me than the warm la2a copy we have in the rack.

I don't like the sound of their mics but am interested to hear their 47fet type mic.

None of it's going to be 'bad' in the same way that I remember a lot of cheaper bits of outboard being ten years ago.

Api cloned stuff seemed reliable . I foundthe wa-76 suffered from quality issues after a while. Scratchy pots, interesting meter readout, annying wall wart power supplies.
I am interested in the new warm Audio Neve preamp/eq combo coming out next month. Apparently increases in quality components have been implemented.

All the warm stuff seems pretty solid. We’ve have 1 wa76 fail/become noisey plus the external PSU is a bit of a pain as well. The Pultec I thought sounded great, the I’ve built a Drip pultec & it sounded very similar to the the Drip version.

We had an 1176 here and it failed quickly. Still getting to the bottom of that one...

I blew up my 1176 (diode burnt out), and hit up the company 'cause it was about a week out of warranty. They'd updated the board since then, and ended up taking it in for a warranty repair. Sucks that it blew, but the service was impeccable.

Well hoping my new Wa-73eq strip is going to last the distance. It certainly feels heavy enough.

Hi Dale, would love to get your thoughts on their 73 once you've had a chance to run it in.

Very quiet even at high volumes. Will be nice for ribbon mics.
High eq when clicking through frequencies can pop audio a little but the other rotary knobs are quiet.
The low end HP is fantastic.
The low selectable eq does remind me very muchof an original 1073 low end eq i use to use some years ago.
Not sure why there is no country of manuafacture or assembly on the item or the box.
It does have some weight to it.
The sound is typically NEVE- ish round and smooth so It sounds like the transformers are doing there job imparting that sonic signature.
Time will tell about the reliability factor but yes i am happy. I should have bought 2 of them.
