Personally I reckon the 1176 and api style pres are the pick. Not 'accurate' but they sound good and do the job.

There's stuff I prefer over the other bits of gear I've tried – the jlm la500 for example gets a lot more use / is more useful for me than the warm la2a copy we have in the rack.

I don't like the sound of their mics but am interested to hear their 47fet type mic.

None of it's going to be 'bad' in the same way that I remember a lot of cheaper bits of outboard being ten years ago.

Api cloned stuff seemed reliable . I foundthe wa-76 suffered from quality issues after a while. Scratchy pots, interesting meter readout, annying wall wart power supplies.
I am interested in the new warm Audio Neve preamp/eq combo coming out next month. Apparently increases in quality components have been implemented.

All the warm stuff seems pretty solid. We’ve have 1 wa76 fail/become noisey plus the external PSU is a bit of a pain as well. The Pultec I thought sounded great, the I’ve built a Drip pultec & it sounded very similar to the the Drip version.
