Hey everyone I just wanted to find out what companies specialise in insurance for studios and producers?
After ringing my home and content provider to ask them about business cover they informed me that they don’t do business insurance (which is fine ). However for the last 7 years that I’ve paid them I found out that they wouldn’t have payed out my guitar for example as it’s not listed as a special item, which I didn’t know. I feel like they took my money and didn’t really try to help. You pay for piece of mind but it seems like it’s a scam. I’m a bit pissed and confused about insurance so any leads in the right direction would be great. I just want to know that if I got robbed or accidental damage they will cover it. Simple. Cheers guys.

Re: Insurance questions
When I had my gear insured in oz Marsh were who I used - they had an ok policy for music gear etc. with options to specificy gear that 'floated' between venues / studio etc.
(for a premium of course)
There may be better options out there now but they were good to deal with and I didn't have any hassles when I had to claim.

Re: Insurance questions
Go to an insurance broker and ask them to get you rates for "tools of trade" insurance.

Re: Insurance questions
I list my instruments on my home insurance and they're then covered there, plus I use Duck for Cover for when I'm away, but I don't think they'll cover studio equipment, only instruments, and public liability.

Re: Insurance questions
also consider public liability insurance - I used to have this when doing excavation - cost about $1K p.a. and covered a raft of things.
