Dodgy install cable - potential for problems

Postby Stephen C » Sat Jul 30, 2005 5:43 pm

To anyone doing studio installs... watch out... there is some dodgy balanced audio install cable out there... The drain/trace/earth wire is insulated from the foil shield. I'm not going to say which make or model of cable this problem is with as I don't want to upset distributors, etc. (only one batch is affected) Next time you are doing an install, check the foil shield is making contact with the drain/trace/earth wire.

Maybe someone knew where the cable was going and decided it wasn't necessary!
