OK, this is NOT the thread to keep up flamewars. I read the article that Henry posted the link to - the guy has no mic or mic pre in his top 10, so me wonders how he gets the sound into those compressors and FX units, but what I really want to know is ......

what's a "Dept of Commerce"?

Anything like Rick's "Dept of Education" V72 preamps?

He doesn't record stuff per se, he mixes albums.
