Just for your awareness. There is a counterfiet mail order scam going on and I think i've just been targeted.

It started with this

Hello
I am into rap/r&b and i want to work on my five tracks out of my 12 track album, i will like to record this five tracks in your studio and i am coming to down there from Senegal.
I will like to know how much five day recording and mastering in your studio will cost so i can make a deposit, i will also like to know the available dates.
Kindly get back to me as soon as possible, so we can move ahead into production.
Best Regards

and i finally twigged with this, the latest mail.

I am okay with the booking date and the time involved,i will be sending you usps money order for $4,000, i will be needing your help, you have your money out of the $4,000 and help me send the rest out the money to my guiterist in the UK.
I can do bank transfer to his account but due to the lack of good facilities in africa, it will take so long to clear and this might will definately delay my project, it takes 4 to 5 weeks to clear.
I hope i can count on you for this? i look forward to hearing from you, so i can send this out as soon as possible.
Best Regards

pretty suspicious huh?

while i'm aware of the nigerian scam, this is a new one but there is an alert here from usps.

probably unlikely to hit other recording studio's but you never know.

regards.

bastards. wasted so much of my time today. i called the feds. nothing they can do of course. i'm yet to check the header of the email but my bet it comes from the u.k. i think the idea is to get you to cash the money order, then pay some to the "guitarists" account as laundard counterfiet.

we could always send the guitarist some counterfit notes, just draw them.

hehe. keep the rest of the money.

if I remember right the USPS mail order is fake and USPS won't honor it.

I reckon adams on the right track - send some monopoly money.
