Protools CPU overload issue

Postby Vic » Fri May 22, 2015 11:23 pm

HI all,

Over the last few days I have this weird problem with Protools crashing saying that the CPU has been overloaded.

However, it happens when I am just starting a session, and the CPU meter says I'm using super low amounts of power, like 2% of cpu power.

I have tried several things, removing all the plug ins, creating a new blank template etc.

But it persists and has meant sessions have been taking a ....very.......long.......time.......

I have searched around online for answers and come across suggestions to things I have already tried like removing plug ins etc.

This problem has just started and I have not made any changes to the system, so not sure why it has appeared out of nowhere.

I am currently using Protools 11 (something like 11.0.3).

Has anyone else out there experienced this?

Thanks

Vic

What OS/rig Vic?
i had a few issues with my Mcabook Pro, it was either the wifi or spotlight indexing the drives in the background.
I have all that and blutooth disabled when recording on the portable now. Runs without a hiccup.

i had some issues recently with a dodgy video card
which didnt actually "fault" till further down the track
i suppose the card was putting info on/ stealing bandwidth from the PCIe bus and causing intermittent troubles..

When I upgraded I had a few issues with some plugs, so obviously go through that whole thing

But the main culprit for me was the dynamic plugin processing thing, it was super glitchy and once I turned it off my system has been super stable. So maybe try that out?
