Autotune / Live Pitch correction

Hey all,

Need to find a autotune / live pitch correction unit for a female vocalist.

For a large ish venue, there are drums on stage, but everyone on stage is on ears, and guitars amps aren't on stage either.

Miming isn't an option.

Has anyone used anything recently, what sounds good at the moment?

Thanks

Simon "Smash" Ashby

I've got the Autotune "Producer" (the rack version). You're welcome to borrow it (I'm not using it much ATM).

Here's Antares blurb on it:

Maybe I was fortunate or maybe I've become cynical in my "older" age but when I was doing live sound (in the mid 90's) any singer I worked with didn't need autotune :(

ive seen people use the one that manning has... havnt myself so cant comment on usability.

the TC one is pretty damn good too (helicon?) i used to use with george (but katie was pitch perfect anyway) we used for creating backing vocal layers not the tuning. good box though.

a number of bands I've seen lately are running logic rigs with their backing tracks, and then processing (including pitch) in logic as well (so mic inputs go into logic via a sound card, then out to the PA) scares me, but people seem to be making it work.

one note on monitors though.. you have to make sure things are split so that your singer gets the REAL vocal, not the pitched one, or you will end up in all sorts of trouble.

I've got the ATR1a rack..

(Sydney, Eastern Subs)

It's older than the 'producer' and doesn't have a mic pre / mic pre modelling / compressor etc... just pitch correction & Midi control.
