Hi, I have a couple of A80 2" machines that need motor re builds, capstan as well as reel motors. Is there anyone in Australia who does this sort of work? I would prefer not to send them overseas and I'm not sure if just replacing the bearings is enough. I could probably do that bit myself.
Cheers,
Paul

do the motors have issues?
it is likely that bearing replacement is all that is required if the windings are intact.

Hi Rob, motors are intact and no faults, but the bearings are on their last legs by the sound of them.
What about the capstan motor with it's sintered bearing, and re finishing the capstan shaft itself?
The machines run but are very mechanically noisy and the wow and flutter isn't as good as Willi would have hoped for.

definitely focus on the replaceable roller bearings
the sintered bearing ... relube but if it is worn you'll need a specialist part ... Alaistair ?

Hi Rob, thanks, i'll start by re lubing the capstan and replacing bearings on the reel motors. Is there a way I can tell if the capstan is actually worn and needs a proper re build?
Cheers, Paul
