So has anyone else put on their nerd hat and gone down this road?

Total cost including monitor was around a grand (using a few existing bits)

runs noticebly better than my mac mini, and although its mostly used for writing, graphics, video editing & the odd music job - it also runs PTLE better than anything else i've owned..

here's a few pics

i bought a legit copy of 10.5 so while technically apple wouldn't like me for doing this, i haven't stolen from them

of course you need to be extremely nerdy, to make it work ;)

specs are:
2.93 ghz Core 2 Duo
10.5.6
non-hacked kernel (thinks its a real mac)
500gb Hdd + 120gb Hdd
Geforce 9800 dual DVI 512mb graphics card
24" benq screen

whats not so good:
won't start up with an apple branded keyboard connected (has to be plugged in AFTER mac os x loads)
won't shut down properly with use hub plugged in (just take it out before)

everything else works great!
