Hi all,
I'd like to try and DIY a Gyraf SSL style comp – can anyone recommend a good place to buy an easy everything included starter kit and / or a good place to shop for parts?
Cheers

Re: GSSL kits?
I think this is as close to a full kit as you'll get-

The SB4000 is an updated comp based on the GSSL. I don't believe there are parts kits etc for the actual GSSL.

Re: GSSL kits?
Thanks Alistair – would need to add power supply, panel and case yeah?
Excuse my ignorance here...
I'm keen and have a good excuse to make one of these now but I'd like to make the process fun and simple as possible.

Looks like a JLM supply in the photo of the completed item.

Re: GSSL kits?
According to the site-
"DOES NOT CONTAIN SYSTEM LEVEL COMPONENTS (IE: ENCLOSURE, ANALOG METER, POWER TRANSFORMER, KNOBS, WIRE, MOUNTING HARDWARE, ETC). PLEASE SEE THE BOM LOCATED AT THE GROUPDIY SUPPORT THREAD FOR A CLEAR INDICATION OF ITEMS INCLUDED IN KIT.
The PS is included, but you will need a transformer. I'm pretty sure someone else on groupDIY sells enclosures and meters for it. It's not a full kit, but it's as close as you'll get for a GSSL style comp I think.

Will check out the Group DIY one as well – have I understood correctly that most of the parts should be fairly easy to source?

Re: GSSL kits?
You could build a Mnats 1176 rev D... (obviously not a SSL clone)
Pcb from Mnats
Case / VU / all transformers / switches / knobs from Hairball audio.
Other Parts from mouser (Bill of materials or BOM downloadable from Hairball)
3 orders and you have eveything you need delivered to your door.
There is a stereo enclosure version now I believe.
Great comp. A bit of off board wiring.. But very very well documented.

I've got four different mnats 1176's, two with trannie i/o, different trannies on the pair of elec.bal. input units.
out of the four, one needs a fault hunt - i think a faulty doopsie in the whatsit section.
just check each resistor in your DMM before you place it on the board. take it slow.

Hey Dave,
If you ended up chasing a GSSL and struggle with some of the parts, shoot me a PM. I have built a few of these now, including another one last month for a mate in Cairns, and have spares for most parts.
