Hellloooooo TR brain trust.
I am searching for a transformer suitable for providing isolated mic splits. My search lead me to a recommendation by Brian at Edcor to use a 600:600 transformer. I would have thought 600ohm secondaries and primaries would haven been too high impedance for a mic. Would a 150:150 be more ideal? Or is it a bit of a non-issue?

impedance is relative! transfomers reflect the load from one side to the other. I think the DIY crew have given you the important aspects to weigh up.

Recommended Mic Splitter transformers by Harbuch...
AT-110 Mic split 1ct:1ct:1ct 200ct:200ct:200ct A-2 can
AT-128 Mic split 1ct:1ct:1ct 200ct:200ct:200ct A-4 can
AT-129 Mix split 1ct:1ct+1+1 200ct:200ct+200+200 A-4 can
AT-130 Mic split 1ct:1ct 200ct:200ct A-4 can
AT-151 Mic split 1.7ct:1ct+1+1 200ct:65ct+65+65 A-2 can
Most seem to be 200ohm impedance

I haven't used those particular txs but harbuch make some great txs and I'm sure that these will be no different. Good aussie company that has been around for quite sometime servicing the ABC among others.

Hey guys,
Cheers for the reply. Harbuch is one of the first places I started... but it leads to the same place (making me very poor).
They are about $50 a pop. At the moment I am running with a pair of ART S8 3-way splitters and calling it a day.
