For anyone interested in radio history, here is a snippet of the derelict Master Control room at the ABC (Melb) some time after they had moved to Southbank. The whole thing was apparently bulldozed shortly afterwards. I wonder if the monster RCA speaker succumbed to the back fill?

Re: Master Control
That neat cabling takes me back to my days at RAAF TS1 at Point Cook. All those PMG B patch bays that are probably land fill now, and I am searching for some..........

Re: Master Control
Ha! Me too and some patch chords. A fair bit of Brian Cox's work in that vid I'd think.
"Master Control" gets my vote for best post for 2016. Thanks!

Re: Master Control
The switch room can be seen in operation at around 3.30 onwards in the following vid - amazing that ABC were using wartime installations right up until the 1980s - there is some seriously old gear in this vid taken shortly before the studios were 'modernised'. How about all those trimax stud faders -click click click...
