some recent work

Postby mylesgm » Fri Jul 01, 2011 1:08 pm

So I'm off for a holiday on monday but in doing so I'm missing three album launches of recent work and it kind of sucks that I don't get to celebrate those projects so I thought I post a few examples here instead (sadly all in mp3 format). So if you're interested I'd love some feedback...

The Tiger and Me.
The first two tracks here are the recent double A-side for the Tiger and Me from the EP that their launching called "The Howling Fire" both produced, engineered and mixed by me.

Osh10
The first video on this site is the single for electronic artist OSH10 aka Aimee Chapman.
I mixed and engineered this as well as co-production credits.

Daniel Gassin Sextet
A straight up modern jazz sextet, recorded by Robin Gray at Alan Eatons and mixed by me. San Jose is the stand out track and this website has snippets to listen to.

This is just some of the varied work I've done over the last six months which also includes some alt rock, avant classical, folk and loads more.

All sounds great Myles. An added bonus working on a variety of styles too. You're a lucky man.
I particularly liked Dangerous Creatures from The Tiger and Me. Where the guitar amps recorded with tremolo on or was it added during the mix? Just wondering as I have just finished mixing a roots gospel CD and added the tremolo during the mix as the songs seemed to me to be almost demanding it.

Nice work Myles! I think it's great to see work from the people on this forum and I hope more people do it. Maybe there could be a new section added to accommodate this so if people wish to display and discuss their works they can. What does every one think?

Thanks chaps.

@chris, I didn't record the other tracks on the tiger and me website those are from their previous album "From a Liar to the Thief". That being said the gtr has great tone and sensitivity and I expect that most of the tracks were recorded 'as is'.

@lee I think this has been talked about but never really sorted. I guess there are issues with posting work covered by copyright.

Some more recent work includes this album (which should be in the running for the most innovative cd cover) and it has been selected as ABC Jazz feature album of the week.

and some more recent work with the release of the single and b-side from The Tiger and Me upcoming release produced by me and mastered by our own host, Rick. Sadly the soundcloud compression colours it a fair bit.

Pretty chuffed with this extract of a review of an album being launched tomorrow night:

"Howl At The Moon's attitude towards music is reflected in the fact that they chose (the rather awesome) Myles Mumford to produce the album. Myles has made a name and career of recording and producing albums of jazz, contemporary experimental music and sound-art, he ain't your typical indie-rock producer. The resulting sound of Squalls is present, clear and beautiful with musicianship and song-craft displayed front and centre. A really lovely album."
