New album featuring 100% hardware synths (many vintage)

Postby joeman » Fri Mar 15, 2019 8:18 pm

Dear forum,

I want to share with you an album of pure synth music I just completed.

Some of the bits of hardware used on this album would've been bought from people on this forum...

All sounds come from 100% hardware synthesisers (loads of various analog subtractive and Yamaha FM stuff). No microphone was used. All sounds were recorded in my studio and the whole thing was put together in one DAW session window. I have much more info available to any who are interested to know more.

Over 60 pieces used on the album.

It's pretty intense and epic music. Nothing like pop or background music. Very rich in content, frequent transitions, morphing timbre, blurred pitch and harmony, all combined with deeply complex rhythmic grooves with zero direct repetition.

Basically, repeated listens will reward anyone with new info and deeper musical experience each listen.

Also, the piece is 70 minutes long..

Not for the faint hearted! haha

Anyway, thanks again for this wonderful community!

And please check out The Measuring Stick on this bandcamp page link below. Any/all feedback is welcome and please pass it on to anyone with possible unique interests such as what this piece might offer:

Thanks all! :)

Also, I premiered this in an Event Cinema in Hornsby a couple of weeks ago.. it was turned up loud and sounded amazing in the Cinema! It was a full house too. Intense experience let me tell you :)

Well done Joe. Sounds gorgeous, somewhat challenging.

OK, so whaddya got against repetition??? ;-)

Seriously, though, what synths are you using for your electronic percussion? Very effective.

Cheers Adam!

It's full of repetition.

But direct repetition reminds me of something I've heard before... :p

Almost all the drums come from:

- Vermona DRM 1 mk3
- DSI Tempest.

With a bit of added:

- Arturia DrumBrute
- Teenage Engineering PO32 (running Sonic Charge MicroTonic)
