HI,
there is one of these on ebay for what seems a great price ($995).

Why are these so cheap? Are they radioactive or something?

They certainly look like a nice synth - obviously inspired by a MiniMoog.
But is there discrete circuits inside or are these things plastic rubbish?

I have no money to buy this, but it looks like a bargain for someone?

Dunno really, they could be ok but they are definitely a moog copy, but not quite as nice really - just another modern equivalent, which is why it doesn't get too much attention I guess. But most people who have them seem to think they are fantastic, and they do sound quite good but not really a distinctive sound like a mini. Seems they get most attention by hip hop / Rap producers for it's low bass abilities, but give me a mini for that any day.

Well anyway, I've never tried one so what do I know ;)

Hi there,

One of things that stopped me buying it, was that it didn't have an osc volume mixer on the front panel, the filter is sorta moogish..but not killer, and it could be up to 20 years old !

Other than that it looks oK !!
I think you have other things, Rachael, that are good..no ??

The one Sammas has for sale is great, but no knobs.. and I'm scared of mylar (if that what the panel covering is) but with the multi filters it is sweet (other than the editing..one knob)

I personally like to have controls I can tweak while actually playing a keyboard, not moving knobs once the midi is there...but hey ...I'm pretty old school (but guess what...I like it like that !!)

cheers

Something crazy is going on in synth world!

A moog voyager RME rack went on ebay this morning for just under $1200. $1200!!! I know the buyer too... he bought it off me for $1800.

Eeeeep!

I'm scared. What is happening to the synth world.

Hi there,

Ross..I agree with you..why would kids spend their money on a good synth when they
can have a free krak of anything they want and a korg nano($90) thing to control it !
(are you the only Buchla 200e owner in Australia ?)

Its a scary world we live in !

and Sammas...I wasn't trying to rain on your parade...yours is a great deal too, and you seem to have more than a few europeans interested !
Your synth looks like the bomb with the hi-tech legending (is it mylar ?) and the 4 filters are hot !

My take is that the SE 1 looks great compared to the photos I've seen of the Se 1x which looks very 90's garish in my opinion.

moog for $1200..it IS a scary world !

cheers

I never took it as such, Nymo! I've just gasped at the prices I've been seeing.

I'm not quite sure what the legending is. I think it maybe mylar, who knows. you can see and feel the buttons beneath it.
It looks pretty slick, regardless. The 4 filters are fun and one dial is surprisingly quick to use. Granted, nowhere near as
quick and fun as the Moog RME was.

Anyway, it's all going! Except for my Wurli. It just had it's amp rebuilt, speakers replaced and is slowly getting it's action regulated.

Just got a new membrane for my ATC-1, it's great to have there for a bassline
Easy to edit, and store patches......that my mini cannot do
