Not mine

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Kawai-XD-5-XD5-D ... nstruments

some people dig these percussion modules for the crazy ring mod / weird type of sounds.. they generally go for much more. not for me, but a bargain if messed up percussion is your thing, and you get into programming.

That was me!

This is probably a good time to introduce myself- I'm Laurence, a slightly autistic synth enthusiast (note that I didnt say 'specialist' or 'pro').

I don't write music. I buy boxes that make sound and proceed to discover their inner most secrets. Sometimes it gets recorded, but thankfully nobody has to listen to it.

So don't mind me, I'll just lurk around here for a while. Happy synthing, people!

um, that was for August.. you gotta be more on the ball.. If i remember, it was a steal.

Kawai XD5 from memory.. some people really rate em. they don't have the nicest user interface, and the sound ain't exactly fat, but they have ring mod between two samples etc and a bunch of ra ra ra.
(That was very coherent wasn't it, but I think it sums up them nicely)

My apologies for digging up an old thread to make introductions.

The bunch of ra ra is just a resonant filter and amp & filter envelopes, a pitch time ramp and yes ringmod.

The user interface put me off really, along with a flaw whereby voice parameters can only be edited in single mode. Not ideal for tweaking, which is what i mainly do.
