Old sampler owners - Take note

I just bought one of these for my Emulator II..

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/SD-Floppy-Emulat ... 2a0cfff77a

If it works well, I may get some more for a few other old samplers that I got that I don't feel like relying on old 5.25Inch floppies for.
(Although, to be honest, My E1's and E2's drive has been pretty rock solid)

I guess it's more about me storing 10 crates of floppies on something the size of my thumb nail

I think the compatibility list is pretty good.. Emax & Prophet2000/2002, mirage etc..

Mike you could turn your old floppy drives into reverb units. :)

Awesome!

I just did a simple hookup with my Emulator 2, and all went smoothly. I've now got the most massive library of floppies stored on a SD card (Prob 1000+ disks) which is brilliant!

I'm just waiting on some hardware (Floppy drive blank panel etc) so that I can properly mount the HxC inside the E2 permanently.

Regards
Mike

Hi Mike
This is great news. I have an EII and was looking at similar options. Do I need any other hardware/software to get this working?
I am very interested.
All the best
Marc

I'm gonna post up a 'step by step' on the EIII forum but basically..

You need the SD-HxC interface
a SD card (8Gb will take images of every E2 disk ever made)
The CD full of E2 Sound designer files - You then use the HxC software to bulk convert these to .EII files for the interface
2x 34 Way female IDE connectors
1m of ribbon cable (Anything 34way or geater)
Some way of mounting the interface physically inside the E2's drive bay.
Probably 3 push nice push buttons for the interface if you want it to look nice...

I'm going to use one of those 5.25" disk drive bay storage things.. they go in a computer and use the 5.25" bay as a small storage draw.. . I'll remove onw of the E2's floppy drives and replace it with the drawer. I'll hack that up and mount the LCD screen + the 3 buttons on the face.. maybe a LED or two..
I was going to put the SD card slot on the front, but with a 8Gb card, I don't think I'll be needing to get it out much + if I do, I can just open the drawer.

But, yea.. frigging awesome to not need the floppy drive at all. It even 'ticks' like a real drive when loading / access etc.

SP1200's are now supported also.. hmmmm.

I am told that you will need the http://www.kryoflux.com/ to work with this device to make the EII work. I am told it won't work other wise.
I think kryoflux have run out of stock but hopefully I am going to buy both units to try them out. Then I can get the whole sample library disk images onto my EII..
Great stuff..

No you don't.

You can use your E2 to load up your custom sample disks, then save em to the SD card on the HxC..

What disks do you have? If they are the OMI or Emulator library, then I may be able to save you some strife.

Kryoflux is not needed, but if you really want to get it, let me know, as I'll buy it off you when you are done.. I would like it for my E1 disks.

Mike

I have the full sample library for the EII but none are disk image files. If you could help me with this that would be great.
You can email me here monkeymarc@hotmail.com

either way I am buying the SD Floppy Emulator but will buy the kyro later as they are all out of stock now...

its all interesting and important to me as I have an EII, SP12 and SP1200

cheers
Marc
