Just wanting to get some opinions on these two synths!
Obviously the CS-30 has far greater functionality, but my decision is based on which one will offer greater functionality when interfaced with a Korg MS-20.
The CS-30 has the sequencer that can be used with the MS-20, while the MS10 offers another VCO, EG, PWM, LFO and noise source, as well as FM capabilities.
Is there anything I'm missing?
cheers.

The CS-30 is far more powerful, and it has a filter sound that the MS-10 can't match. It also is full of parts that are intensely difficult to source, all of it's VCO's, EG's, VCF's and it's many VCA's are custom chips that are only available by stripping another CS series synth.

I dunno about yamaha CS synths... they always had pretty weak sounding oscillators when I've played them (never owned one, but!) their filters are nice.
MS-10 is a really crazy little synth, and capable of some amazing noises. And patched into an ms-20 I imagine it'd be a total party. (never played with a pair of them like that before though)

I Iove the CS filter,it is soft and smooth, you can't run it into screaming self oscillation at all, it's the anti-Korg. I have a CS-5, CS-10, CS-20 and CS-80.

I've owned an MS10 and a CS40. Just based on that I prefer the CS. But I agree with 'no-fi' if you added an MS10 to an MS20 you'd end up with a very powerful system.
