Roland Jupiter 6

I have a pretty much mint condition Jupiter 6 that works perfectly and am looking to sell it but the price I was going to sell it for $2300 seems to maybe be a bit undervalued. Looking on ebay from Japan is about $3000 and from US including postage to Oz is about $3300.

What is a reasonable price so I dont rip myself off? No europa installed.

thanks

Thats a pretty "out there" question. How much is anything worth? Put it to auction and see? As Rick always says, something is only worth what someone is willing to pay on the day. I would expect an Australian retailer to put $3300 on it... while it sits on the shelf for months on end... as they complain about lack luster Australian retail.

Here is a link to a recent sale, this one had MIDI. I am surprised that they aren't going for more.

If $2500.00 is all you can get for a mint JP-6 I would be holding onto it, or swapping it for something of decent value.

Nymo, I remember working on your JP-8 in 1991 when I was at Roland. The only one I ever saw with the midi -mod as well as the DCB connection. Interesting back then too was the JX-3P (I think) or maybe a Juno 106 that you could put a special set of proms in to get 1/4 tones for middle eastern music by holding down 2 adjacent notes. Not something you hear of all that often.... wow only 20 years since I left Roland.... :)

Why would you have midi and DCB?? Don't they access the same part of the CPU?
I use my JP8 with an MD8 converter and never felt the need for a retrofit...

And didn't all JP-6s come with midi from the factory?

Hi Alistair,
Sorry to burst your memory bubble but mine didn't have dcb !
As I understand, it was one of the first ones ( before dcb)
I had a midi mod and memory upgrade and fm filter upgrade done by Robin Whittle
(that was 30 years ago...hard for me to remember !)
But you did workbon it when you said...all the mods were killing the power supply and it was overheating !

Aha , one of the first 500.
a rare beast. I must have confused it with others with just DCB , I do remember the JP-8s with DCB and I think it was the msq-700 DCB sequencers . Mark Moffit had some early sequencers we used to work on too.
When I started there the new fangled D-50 had just come out. Such good days and lots of good parties, probably what blurred the memory a bit. I'm going for a drink again with Soren soon, He's still at Roland, coming up to 25 years I think
