Ahh congrats!! I love a success story :)

I still remember that one a few years back on ebay that only went for $500, thought it was a bargain at the time but it was pickup only.

BTW how many synth's is that now Mike??

Hmmmm

A lot.. A quick count comes in at over 25.

But i'm honestly at the end of my list of things I want... Honest..

There are some things I will sell, and some things I should sell but won't.. But I do enjoy my gear. I like picking and choosing stuff for a jam.

The Quadra is mighty cool. I really dig the Arp Omni and this is like an Omni on steriods. The Bass section surprised me at how much air it can move (Prior to that jam I'd been using just crumby headphones while fixing it).. The lead synth has some spiffy tricks like Duophony (like Arp Oddy) and separate portamento times for the two oscillators.

I can see how shortly after it came out (around 1979)it would have been looked down upon.. but fast foward to 2012 and to me it seems the things that were so important back then like true memory and true polyphony are not as important and ground breaking as back then... Which leaves how it sounds, and to me there is nothing that sounds like it.

It sounds damn wicked though the WMD Geiger counter too!

Did you get the VS too then?
Let me know if you're offloading an Oberheim at any point. ;;)

When Steve (Thirteen) repairs something of mine or others, he generally supplies the repaired synth with a doggy bag with the parts he had to remove / replace.

This is a photo of the bits I had to remove / replace to get the Quadra 100%.

(Not included in photo - 5 faders / Slider caps / All the dead crusty pratt reed bushings)

About 30 IC's & A load of tantalum caps + Something like 40 hours work.. most of it rewarding.

The damn phaser not working had me scratching my head.. fustrated the crap out of me.. Also had an issue with 'popcorn' or 'shot' noise on one of the outputs.. pain in the arse for me to find.

My personal repairing 'to do' list is pretty much at the end & That's a good feeling.

Yea, I know I know...

I'd love a VS, but I don't think I can drop $2.7k on a synth right now. Shame.

I know it'd be a cool synth too..

Sure did!
When a friend finally gets his one from the states, I'll be sure to post a pic of 3 Quadras on a stand.
1 for playing, the other 2 in case that one breaks down.. Lol.

Got it and opened it up today.

It probably didn't help it that two connectors were around the wrong way!

It's lead synth now works, but it's mostly a basket case.. No more than my other one when I got it however.. Fun times ahead!
