Anyone selling an Oberheim Poly? Swap for Jupiter 6 mint?

Postby andre99 » Tue May 06, 2014 12:53 pm

(Further to my first post if anyone is interested in a swap for a super mint Jupiter 6 (one owner, no gigging, kept in time capsule) please let me know.)

Hi, I've been on the lookout for a while for an Oberheim OB 8 or Xpander for an important recording project (basically I need a OB poly with MIDI). I've been using two Matrix 1000s as work-arounds but as deadlines draw tighter I'm having to start asking around.

I was in email contact with Tom Oberheim earlier this year and he told me he was working on a new OB 8 for release hopefully the end of this year or sometime next year. This is great news but unfortunately I need to record sooner than this. I can always get one from the US but not being able to check it first, and the problems that might occur during shipping scare me off this idea.

If anyone is even vaguely thinking of selling please let me know. My email is andreromano99@gmail.com (I only occasionally look at this forum). Thanks

Sorry, I'm based in Melbourne, though I'd consider a drive to Sydney for one!

Unfortunately, Toms schedule is years behind..so don't wait for that !
( fwiw...I much prefer the ob8 to the expander)

Ha..no...the Andromeda is still on the to do list ( been 10 years so far!) but it will happen one day.
Nearly got one from Byron Bay a couple of years ago for a BIN of $1800.
Thought twice about it but it had gone 5 min later.
( spent too much money on modular lately, but starting to GAS for an Obie 2 voice )

Cheers

Thanks Nigel, that looks promising. Unfortunately I have no experience with the inside of synths or electronic gear. I'd probably have it wrecked in a day.

Anyone in Melbourne interested in a paid build or able to recommend someone that might be interested?

I'm on the fence about getting a Matrix 12 if anyone is thinking about offloading one.

Nigel, do it. I had a Matrix 12 on loan for 72 hours a few years back and I would really, really love to own one. If you get one can I come over?!
