ROLAND JX3p/PG200 Issue

I have an annoying intermittent issue with my JX3p. Actually the JX3p works great, its just that when I plug the PG200 programmer into it, the sound freaks out as if I were randomly turning nobs on the programmer... except i am not touching it.

Sometimes I can go hours without it happening, sometimes its as soon as I power up.

When I change patches on the synth, it resets the sound as per that patch.

The PG200 programmer certainly makes life easier when it comes to playing with sounds, though you can program with out it.

Anyway, I am going to sell the synth either way, I would much prefer to sell it good working condition...

Anyone have any thoughts before I send it our resident synth repair man? B-)

Anyone have a JX3p i could try my PG200 with for a trouble shoot???

Oly

Have you tried the obvious checks for mechanical issues with the lead and so on?

There is no obvious damage to cable or pins. I'm going to knock up a new 6 pin cable today see how that goes.

Check for cracked solder joints at the socket of both the synth and the programmer too.

To update this issue,
Steve Jones diagnosed and fixed the issue. Replacing some IC's and caps in the PG200.
