Speaker + Sub Setup, new to me

Postby Martin » Wed Sep 30, 2015 1:01 pm

hi all,

Got a pair of Event 2030's in the wall, it's a small room, they sound clean and nice but i think a sub will be required to make it all work properly.

2 questions:

- Active subs, Was leaning towards a Genelec 7050b (8 inch) or 7060b (10 inch) - the latter is double the price. Is it worth spending money on one or do i grab a 10" mackie/KRK and call it a day?

- Wiring it all in, i've made provisions for this room to do 5.1, i assume the front speakers, sub, and rear speakers all get their own outputs from the desk/interface (that i don't have yet) and the crossover is taken care of via software? or is there a better way

any suggestions would be great!

No replies yet so I'll offer 2c worth of .........

My preference is for bigger subs - lower res freq / push more air etc.....and a pair of 12" subs at that (yes, sub-bass is in stereo too) is my choice for the "mix room", however, I also have a pair of midfields with 8" woofers that have more and better depth than the studio spkrs with subs......

Not much help - maybe someone else will give you more real world feedback....
