Cleaning Adat XT

Postby NYMo » Thu Dec 24, 2015 8:25 pm

Don't worry why, but I just got an Adat Xt ( yeah...20 years behind the bleeding edge !)
Having never used one before I was just wondering what the "industry standard" way to clean them was ?
VHS head cleaner ? By hand ? Etc
Any ideas appreciated.

Cheers

by hazy memory........... we used isopropyl alcohol and cotton buds, and i think opening up the machine and doing it by hand.

Yes, isopropyl alcohol.
I used to use these flat swabs that were lint free made for VHS head cleaning
Hold wet swab over drum and rotate in one direction,

aahh, don't clean near the helical headgap with a cotton bud. All other rollers, guides and carefully the face of the drum are ok with a bud and iso but not near the gap where the head spins. Clean that with a good quality white business card dampened with isoprop pressed flattly and firmly against the drum while the head is spun by hand
