The modules average around $150 each and the 900 multi rack should be around $200.
I've got my eye on 6 modules (902's, 903's, 904's) with 2 x 900 2 slot PSU racks atm...
Happy hunting.

I own two 900a frames with 5x903's, 5x904's, 6x905's & 2x902's. I bought them a couple of years ago from a broker in the US for about $800 with the gates and EQ's and then slowly added the 903's and 902's at average price of $150 per module. I definitely think they are great value for the money.

Be careful of after market racks, can't remember the name at mo. But the after market rack had higher power rails (+-30V) than the DBX (+-24) units where expecting. End result all output stages fried. I think the seller new something had blown but didn't let on. The modules can be modded to run on higher power rails but 'buyer beware'.

I think the after market racks you are talking about are the Aphex 9000R units, they used to sell two options of PSU and one suited the lower voltage DBX modules. I think you can run the Aphex modules quite happily in the DBX rack.

I asked about these a year or two ago and everyone reckoned they weren't that good. Are they fashionable now?

The one i repaired was not an Aphex rack, it was a boutique one. It did not end well for the boards. Hence the repair needed.

Not so much fashionable as good utilitarian outboard that does what you expect it to. If you want some DBX 160's in your rack and you don't mind them being permanently in Over-Easy mode than they are much cheaper than a stand alone 160X.

Re: how much would you pay for....
I saw that rack on the grays auction. Was a bargain I thought except you cant test it out. Pretty much agree with everything people said above but if you were setting up a live rack of workhorse processors you couldn't go much past a bunch of stuff in a 900 rack.
I've got 3 903s, 4 aphex dominators and two aphex expressors in a rack and its pretty powerful. And heavy.
