I am currently clearing our my storage as our studio build nears an end and I came across a pair of these. Someone gave them to me years ago. They sound quite nice to me in their current condition.

However, I don't know much about them.

Does anyone have any opinions on them and wether it's worth getting them refurbished. And who might be able to do that work?

I will be in Sydney in October and then again in November so I could take them with me.

I've got a pair of them...mine are grey though .
They sound ok. They were in a lot of control rooms in the 70s.
They don't sound anything like my ATC s or Focals though !

Cheers

I've got a pair of them and they sound OK,As Nymo says, not like an ATC or B&W or any of the newer more exotic speakers. They sound like a 70s JBL and on some tracks will sound "right" .
As far as refurbishment,if the high and mid are OK and the domes not damaged and no scraping on the bass voice coil, a good clean and some timber treatment and they'll come up nicely. The attenuators may need exercising and maybe a spray with some "Tech in a can" ( Caig deoxit or similar). If you don't keep them, Asian buyers are very keen on that era of JBL.check eBay. If repairs are needed, Speaker works in Concord, Peter Keenan has done a number of recones, roll surrounds and other repairs for me over the years
