god, I hope so.

I hope that singers that need autotune and engineers that can't comp are fads that die out too.

One can only hope so.

The douche snare drum died eventually, so we can hope.

(call it a "reverse gate" if you want, but to me it will always be the "douche" snare)

Firstly because drugs are bad....don't you remember that episode when Kenny took the Alien's cocaine?

....... secondly because if 'they' banned auto tune, next 'they' would have to then ban special fx in movie production and then dear Raptor, your on screen presence would diminish to the point of non existence!
So unless you want to follow in the footsteps of your in the flesh counterpart, I'd be very careful about banning things you don't like !

I don't get people getting upset about it.. It's annoying, yes... But so what? Don't use it in your production then.

It's just an effect to me. (one I sure like using for a laugh)

Is it a 'fad'? Sure.. Like super squashed tracks, or loads of reverb, or phaser or gated reverb drums or fuzz guitar or highly edited grid locked drums or whatever..

I'm hoping subtlety will prevail - I'm getting really sick of the voice obviously glissing up (or even worse down).

I don't mind the special effects going on around actors in movies, but when the actor herself becomes a special effect you have a cartoon. I prefer some honesty and talent from both singers and actors. Patrick Stewart is usually surrounded by special effects in his movies, but he doesn't need his voice and acting corrected by computer.

But his acting is effected by the editing from multiple takes...
