Grrrrr.

I have been getting in several FX pedals for repair made by a company that has made great analog pedals for decades, but now their pedals look similar, but are boxes of DSP's, and the whole pedal runs on 5V. I look at them and think that for all the money they cost, there is no support for repairing them, and they just become junk once they break, and they are not cheap either. I had another pedal in from another company, and I had to hand it back still not working, because all of the knobs were glued on, so to open it for service would require a combination of unsoldering 5 pots and rotary switches from the back of the circuit board, and breaking a large detented rotary encoder.

It is ironic that it is much easier to source parts for 25 year old synths and FX, and can be impossible to fix a lot of devices made in the last 10 years. You can find pretty much every electronic component in a Minimoog at Jaycar (or a reasonable substitute) apart from maybe tempco resistors and a couple of FET's.

have you tried tuning a new car lately..? you can't

i just got 3 year old car and the damn auto mirror moves to a different place every time i get in it .
its just out of warranty so ford said yeah we cannot fix that
it will be cheaper to buy a new car :)

well its fixed now and i fixed it good and proper
its amazing what a old wire cutter can do to a new impossible problem !

it doesnt move at all anymore now except the good old fashion way .....by hand :)

No kidding, I just found out to my horror that for the last 10 years or so manufacturers have been making car radiators out of plastic. I had to buy an entire new radiator because the factory one had cracks in the plastic from the hot water. Makes me want to find a Leyland P76... No, wait, no it doesn't....

i broke my hand really badly the other week and its gonna take a long time to get right again and i just cannot drive my kids around in my 64 futura one handed no power steering and convince myself its safe
so i have parked the futura
and i bought a new new fairmont ghia cheap because it had a v8 it and the price of petrol was out of control ... prime time to buy i thought
and now petrol has dropped 80 cents a litre since i bought it !
which is handy
but the problem is the v8 sounds like a sewing machine ! - its unbelievably fast, made out of plastic even the woodgrain is plastic but the damn thing just doesnt make any noise
quiet v8s..? how long has THAT be going on ..?
whats the point ?
whats next quiet rock music ..?

How are you supposed to drive around fantasizing that you are in an Aston Martin Vanquish when the engine sounds like a drill press? Takes all the fun out of it really....

I haven't worked on any really new MXR pedals, as far as I know they are still analog, I really hope they don't go down the same path as some other brands. I am thinking of buying some new pedals and MXR is on my list, so I will do some research.[/i]

A large helping of good luck mixed with a good dose of psychology........ the book of the moment is on the subject of raising boys... (& i have 5 of them) and how important it is for them to spend time with their Father and their need for adventure in the wild and sense of accomplishment etc........ Honey this is how i can do this for YOU and the Boys.
I also had the good fortune to make money on the last boat i had years ago as it was i restoration job on a Couta boat and they fetch a bit of money if you buy at the right price. The hull is in great nick, the motor needs work, and i was able (& here is the good luck), to buy her at a very reasonable price. She is a solid little boat with plenty of freeboard and boyancy in the bow, built to push through Port Philip Bay chop if you get caught in a blow.

My first guess would be R... I don't think you'd even bother getting a B... fixed. On another tangent have you noticed that apart from the physical size of some modern synths you can literally pick them up with one finger.

Just sit right back and you'll hear a tall tale,
A tale of a fateful trip
That started from this southern port
Aboard this Aussie ship.

The mate was a mighty sailing man,
The skipper full of it for sure.
Five passengers set sail that day
For a three hour tour, a three hour tour.

The weather started getting rough,
The tiny ship was tossed,
If not for the crew's need to spew
Florence would be lost, Florence would be lost.

The ship set ground on the shore of this
muddy mangrove isle
With Hallam
The First Mate too,
The A&R rep and his wife,
The recording star
The manager and Mary Jane,
Here on French Isle.

So this is the tale of the castways,
They're here for a long, long time,
They'll have to make the best of things,
It's an uphill climb.

The first mate and the Skipper too,
Will do their very best,
To make sure they're ok
In their French island nest.

No mobile phone, no internet
no holden motor cars,
Not a single luxury,
Like William Buckley,
As primative as can be.

So join us here each week my freinds,
For a beer and a smile,
From seven stranded castways,
Here on "French Isle."
