God I hate Blue LED's.... ughhhhhhhh....
Has anyone who actually designed something with blue LED's actually used it in a dark / dim enviroment? Nothing like 40 blue lasers pointing at your retinas. Not to mention the fact that they look sooooooo late 90's.....

Apparently filling the room with bong smoke can help diffuse the blue light.
Worst I've seen is one of the backup drives in our machine room. It might be a Lacie. With the room lights off that f&*ker is as bright as a stage can.

Hey Marty I remember those. They were in that plastic lunchbox to keeo them extra fresh. Have you seen the main buss VU's on my console? It's quad so I did the front bus VU's with blue leds and the rear buss with red leds. The red look better.

The red looks better than the blue. What I didn't do to these was sand the domes of the leds to make the light disperse more. The leds were fitted inside the original VU's casings replaceing the solder in festoon lamps they had.
You can actually get close to a globe colour if you use yellowish orangey leds and drop the voltage enough to get a glow of sorts.

We started turning off the lights to our server room at work, it turns out that ~ a thousand LED's is enough to work by a lot of the time.
