SEM in Australia
Hi,
Awave has the SEM available in Australia now. I think it is about $1100.
Time to lay-buy ;)

Hey rachel, don't you ever run out of space? I couldn't fit a SEM anywhere if I wanted to, even though it is quite small.
What's your list of gear anyway?, always wondered. Interesting to know what other people in Aus are using.

Hmmm, I try not to be too greedy. My partner Robert said I could have anything that can fit in my studio, which is
actually just the 3rd bedroom of this townhouse. I've got a few nice things.... I feel very fortunate. I do have
room for a SEM and either a X0xbox or a 303. I have to put some shelves in, above the System 100. As I mentioned
previously, it takes a lot of space, but I like it.....
You can tell I am an amateur by how I have my patch bays ;)
But it works for me I guess..... The setup has changed a little since the pictures were taken.
There is an SBF-325 under the SDD-330 now....
I tend to keep all my favourite instruments and I do learn their abilities. The Octopus will
be a lifelong investment and I am putting all my spare time into learning it....

I'm honestly surprised that you posted pics.. I'm a bit nervous about letting people see pics of my stuff.
Maybe call me paranoid, but I like to err on the side of caution.
Nice setup tho!
Regards
Mike

I will only leave them up for a couple of hours - I know what you mean.
I was robbed once before back in 1991 which basically killed my music career.
But I don't mind sharing a few pics on here for a short time!
Last time, the thieves only took the Atari, all my projects and archives and the software, but
left behind the obsolete junk keyboards and useless box of dongles.

Oh damn missed the pics. I'd still be interested in seeing your setup could you PM me the pics?
On a side note I particularly hate people that steal music gear from struggling musicians, no excuse for that kind of thing.

Well obviously, which is why I said, "particularly", ie, I take particular exception to people who steal from musicians, but it is also of course bad in general.

What about online collabarations?
Check out http://www.inthemix.com.au/forum/showth ... p?t=266645 In the Mix have Project 52 for people wanting to contribute to writting together.
More details here http://gestaltproject52.blogspot.com/ its actually an In the Mix member hosting the collabarations. Sounds like a great way to get inspired and to meet people safely without any fear of studio gear going walkies?
Great way to get inspiration and to learn from others?
Maybe some of the TR electronic musicians may want to start a Turtle Rock project? You never know we could end up with a Turtle Rock electronic dance compilation, lol
Shame about the pics, i see people posting there studio setups for the world to see, just don't give out your personal details?

i know a few nerds that have great synth collections and build shit too :-) + might be interested in such a collab. They are acid house/power electronic fiends though :P
im too poor to own any of that shit atm, will probably be changing very soon though !

oooh cool!!!!
I just went and looked on their site. $1164. Though is it actually in stock?? they added this on dec 22, which is before many people had one....
But yeah - thats a better price than I think you'd get one from OS with shipping and duty (and also the 2+month wait)
I might have to give them a call when my girlfriend is distracted and see if I can have one posted up to sydney..

I am going to lay-buy one next week. I love lay-buys. It means getting cool stuff
without going broke and eating chinese noodles for a month. So, having a nice synth collection is not unreachable even if you don't have a large income.
I wish ebay had a kind of laybuy system, but that is totally up to the sellers. I laybuy lots of things and always seem to have money as a result.
I do not have a credit card...... (got a mortgage though.....)
I also suggest looking at the Synthesizers.com subscription - that is a cool way to do things on a budget. But like all these things, you
must be patient and delay the pleasure ;)

done deal!
though now I really do have to sell more other stuff...
:-)
thanks for the heads up, I'm so glad to be able to get one of these without having to go through the annoyance everyone non-american seems to have had with audiomidi.

haha!
of course, the day I put in a web order for this synth, my car drops some of it's gears on the way home from a nice wet drive to coogee..... d'oh! no more 2nd and 4th gear for my was 5 now 3 speed manual mirage.
Never had this happen to a car of mine before, but I get the feeling it's expensive. I'll find out soon enough.
aaah well.. very glad I'm buying out of savings, and wasn't stretching my credit to get the synth.
