Servicing OLD Beyer M69..

Postby toddd » Wed Mar 10, 2010 1:33 pm

Where would I get this done?

I feel like it would need a new capsule. Also, it has a tuchnel connector and would like to get that changed to an XLR.

I got this mic in a trade years ago, and it's been in box for a while. I'd really love to get it in the mix again.

Appreciate any suggestions...

Instead of replacing the tuchel with a XLR, make a tuchel to xlr cable.

fish around on ebay, but you can often buy the connectors for a few bucks.

feel like it needs a new capsule? or have hooked it up and tried it out

if you need a C091A connector...commonly and mistakenly referred to as a tuchel connector then these are available from RS components p/n 612-1664

if the capsule is shot it probably isn't worth repairing...unfortunately

yeah once the capsule is dead it pretty much becomes a write-off. replacing the capsule almost costs as much as a new mic.

one thing you could do though is stick in an M88 capsule instead - the body is the same, but an M88 is worth more making the fix a little more palatable. i'm pretty sure the cost to replace it was the same... least it was 3 or so years ago.
