United Audio (UREI/Universal Audio) 1108 Preamp

Postby Will Usher » Thu May 12, 2005 12:55 pm

Hi all. My first post on the new forum.

OK, I've just purchased a UA 1108 preamp off eBay from the States. I need a little help deciphering the schematic so I can wire it up.

Does anyone here know anything about this particular model? Any useful wiring diagrams or so on.

The only schematic I have found on the 'net is this one:
http://www.waltzingbear.com/Schematics/Urei/UA_1108.pdf

It doesn't have any clear, idiot proof labels on where I shove my audio signal or where to put my +24 V if this is indeed what it requires.

Thanks in advance. Will :O)

Hi Rob,

Thanks for the response. I've actually had some luck finding some information:

The only trouble is finding the Gain Trim nibnob which appears to be a mystery part noted only in drawing #10733.

Anyone happen to have this one?

just connect pin 6 to pin F and connect to groung as per the notes. This control if installed allows the unit to have a crude limiter. I reckon the Input trim control is just a pot, say 500R would probably do it. Some experimentation required!

Hey Will,

Long time no see / speak. How is sunny England treating you?? Surplus Sales of Nebraska have a bunch of 500 ohm & other obscure values NOS pots for sale here:
