Anyone know the best place to get a Fender Rhodes serviced in Melbourne?
Nothing specifically wrong - been sitting unused for years & just needs a good going over.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Rhodes service Melbourne
Hello Malcolm,
James Patterson and Simon Tregear come to mind as very good repairers of these instruments they are both in melbourne. James is based in Carlton i believe. I hathatve bought a rhodes from him and have played rhodes pianos that he has serviced - it came out much better than before - he's a nice guy and very knowledegable, Simon comes highly recommended - i have never met him or pianos he has worked on.
i have 2 rhodes and have spent ages tweaking them and getting them playing right, i'd be happy to help out over the phone and or drop by if im close to your area to at least suss out how it is playing and what might be done to get it sounding better, i have done lots of repairs to them (replaced pickups, tines, tuning, voicing, escapement, miracle (bump mods) hammer mods, back checks ect..
eitherway - let us know how you go and let us know what model it is (they all sound and feel different)

Yep, another good word for James (Jim) Patterson. I don't have his details on tap but pretty sure they are somewhere at the fenderrhodes.com (org) site. Haven't been there in ages though. The have a section for repairers world wide.

Thanks for replies guys - found James Patterson's contact details on http://www.fenderrhodes.com. Will give him a bell.
Harry - FYI
it's a Rhodes Mark III EK-10 (the one with the analog synth section).
Many minor (hopefully) problems including a couple of notes don't make sound, some notes don't cut off just continue to sustain, tuning, general inconsistency in volume & tone between notes (a few notes sound distorted). Plus generally noisy pots / sliders.
There's also an issue with the synth section in that it is constantly generating a note even when nothing is played. Don't care too much about the synth part though - can't remember when I actually wanted some synth blended into the rhodes tone?
I did gig with it extensively years ago (loading that in&out of the car - what was I thinking???) but now I just want to get it playing nice & let it have a nice quiet life in my studio.
Thanks again

Hi Malcolm,
Try Geoff Williamson who is in the Melbourne area on 0408682172. He is pretty good on Rhodes , Wurlies, Leslies and Hammonds.
Incidently he has one of the Mark3's so he knows what their about. Not many in Australia so another working one would be good to see.
Cheers Garry Lynch
