Re: the hot seat

just wonderin'

Re: the hot seat
I have a couple of bass shaker motors but have never got around to actually using them for anything.
The ones I have only take 40w rms, the guys at Cirque Du Soliel used the same ones when I loaded for Dralion several years ago. They had them bolted to the floor under the drummer, keyboard player the bass player.

Re: the hot seat
some years ago I did an 'immersion' art installation and we created a foyer of a hideously expensive hotel with terrible taste. I made a loop of the carpenters 'close to you' that played alternating verses choruses and instrumentals that never ever finished (seriously the loop went for 4 weeks). In amongst all the ridiculous and over the top 'finery' was an unassuming little french baroque chair next to a small table. I attached one of these drum kicker things to the bottom in a very subtle way so that it couldn't be seen nor could the cables. Occasionally sub-audible low frequencies would pass through the chair with no outside relation to anything. After opening night the gallery attendant dubbed it 'the pleasure spot' and during the day would politely ask gallery attendees to 'please sit in the chair whilst I organise your room' or something similar so he could watch their reaction when they got 'loved'.
I've still got that transducer around somewhere maybe I'll take it to the studio next time and use it under my seat...

Re: the hot seat
i put two in my seat in studio in kings cross
its well worth doing at least for one week of your life
but they get hot and melt plastic ( thus the title )
i didnt want to be sitting on a chair that was oozing hot plastic so i took it off
i have two drum throne shakers making their way to me with a large lot of studio gear i am putting up the back of the warehouse for later - i cannot decide if sending a drummer a click track through one would be a great idea or a greatly bad idea - but they make em so people must use them ?

Re: the hot seat
We built some smaller servo ones into a couch for playing playstation on years ago. We called it the rumble seat. It was awesome for shooter type games.
We drank a lot of beer one night and talked about manufacturing them. But we just drank more beer instead..
