Just curious what kind of music you fellow synth heads like to make?
I make a lot of (second rate) ambient / early tangerine dream kind of stuff, but also mess around with a 707 and 606 synced with a Juno 6, sh-101 and Mono/poly to jam on classic chicago house style tracks.
I mostly play guitar in a band but use synths a little with that, when we try to be Hawkwind
Fell free to post your tracks too..

Hmm... here's a few tracks, but I'm afraid the majority are softsynths with the occasional 106 thrown in when I had my first one. Pardon the poor quality mixes - these are all pre me having monitors and some were actually entirely made when one of the dodgy hifi speakers I used to use died completely and I was mixing on one speaker! In a small square room... with cement walls...and no interface... Ghe-tto...

Re: What kind of music do you use your synths for?
Hi there,
I like to do Berlin School music, hardcore Techno, ambient ,weird ambient, jazz, rock, cover bands and I even played in a (very good) Hawkwind band (at least Dave Brock thought so !)
Pared my synths down to a synth.com 66 space modular with dual 960 sequencers, Oberheim OBMX, K station, mvs-1 and a couple of softsynths and a few choice fx units. Dim d, re 201, marshale time modulator, primetime, pcm 41 etc
Small, but hands on, is good !
Cheers

Yep, out of all my gear, the last thing they'd pry from my cold dead digits is my RE-201. Such a useable ol' tank!

Great sounds, tweakeasy. I dont think I could make stuff so complex sounding.
Nymo, I love Berlin School sounds, I'd love to hear some of your music. How's the dotcom system?
I'm thinking of getting a modular set up myself when I've got more space - at the moment i'm just messing with some 'semi-modular' toys. (MS-20 + MS-10 + SQ-10 + some MoogerFoogers)

Re: What kind of music do you use your synths for?
Hi Adam
Believe it or not we never did silver machine !
Mainly did space ritual stuff and a fewthings that that violin player did
Something about a horse ! Yeah, i had to do the violin stuff on a synth !
Its all on video and i should upload it sometime
I need to put my electronic trax somewhere too.
I have just done two albums of pretty wierd electronica, not
Not bleep music or aleatoric, but somewhat more melodic
I also like Ross's music and am keen to post some of my own
If anyone has any suggestions that can take 20 to 60 min pieces that would
Be great !
Cheers

Have you tried http://www.bandcamp.com ?
Thought soundcloud would take larger files if you were a paid up member?

Re: What kind of music do you use your synths for?
soundcloud free membership takes up to 2 hours of music...
i've had 2 X full DJ mixes up on there with no worries.

NYMo Heathen Spawn 6.49 (1997)
Two trax from the first NYMo album Distobarf. Pretty dark doof !

Re: What kind of music do you use your synths for?
Usually I m playing more acoustic guitar/fingerpicking...but use the Mini on pop / rock track as bass / lead/ ambiance...
Usually I use synths for electronic music...New album of French Pop electro in preparation...
I m a big fan of Berlin School too, love kraftwerk...started synths with Klaus Shulze but was playing piano and guitar first...I m doing polyphony with my modular these days, quite fun...
But synth is for electronic music usually...
