Got my second 106 en route and it's been sitting unused for 3 years so want to give it a full going-over.
What's your method of cleaning sliders and pots? Is there some kind of spray that's safe to use?
Same question applies for cleaning contacts - apparently the patch data buttons need a bit of a wiggle/ extra press to activate.
Thanks guys n' gal! (Rachel being the 'gal' in that)

This is always tricky, because some techniques work with certain hardware better than others. Sliders generally are easier than buttons. Many buttons/switches require some disassembly before spraying them with something like Deoxit etc, which can be a major PITA.
Also, just a thought, with something that has been idle that amount of time - I would be getting the PSU checked before powering it up, in case the electro caps are stuffed . . .

Yeah, a synth tech I just spoke to told me that Deoxit Faderlube is good for sliders and pots and Deoxit G5 for jacks and switches. He's putting me in touch with a bloke in Brisbane who sells it for $12 a can. Seems reasonable as I don't suppose you'd need much. For cleaning the outside I figure I will just stick to what I've always used - trusty ol' methylated spirits. With OJ, on ice and a little cocktail umbrella.
Would heed your advice and get PSU checked but as the seller switched it on to confirm for me that it was dead VC's that risk has already been taken.
Going to Jaycar to replace the tactile switches and see if that sorts that issue.
Thanks for the reply mate!

If the deoxit deal comes through are you able to share the supplier? That seems very cheap and I've read good things about the stuff.

I don't see why not, if I'm not able to deal direct and it has to be through my tech mate then I'll hit you up for how much you want, buy extra and you can just reimburse me plus cost of post to the ol' 'Berra. Won't be in the next couple of days but will be in the next week or two. Sound good?

That's about half the price that the Australian importer at Alexanderia in Sydney sells it for across the counter. One caveat, Faderlube is designed for conductive plastic pots. It does seem to work OK on carbon pots though. At that price I wouldn't mind buying some D5.....

Erk - forgot all about it amidst moving out of Brisbane to the Sunshine Coast and taking time out for one of my other passions - restoring my '62 Benz.
Currently in Fiji celebrating my 30th birthday, will get onto it 'pon my return.
Cheers

Just looking into this atm for the somewhat crusty 30mm slide pots in my (soon-to-be immaculate) Juno 106.
Btw, if you need replacement 50K Linear, 30mm travel slide pots:
