I have a pair of vintage API 550A EQ's.
You can't put them into a lunchbox without having one of the pins to the connector card snipped.
Who is the best person to do this?

Sorry....
Looks like it only applies to the vintage 560A:
The 500H comes with an internal 48 volt phantom power supply, bussed to pin 15 for the API 512C to access. It must be noted that the older API 560A series equalizers used pin 15 for a "direct output" and must be disabled on the 560A circuit board edge connector by cutting a trace. This will eliminate 48 volts from damaging the 560A series equalizers.

I was sure I read somewhere about the 550A. Must've been mistaken.

there is a sticker, inside my API rack...that says something about snipping or removing something when installing a 550A ..but its serial number related.....let me grab a screwdriver and see what it says....

talk amongst yourselves :D

Okay it says and I quote:

THIS RACK HAS 48 VOLTS ON PIN 15 FOR PHANTOM POWER.

ALL 560A AND 560B EQS MADE BEFORE SERIAL NUMBER 356,AND ALL 560AT AND 560B EQS
MADE BEFORE SERIAL NUMBER 144 HAVE A DIRECT OUTPUT CONNECTED TO PIN15.
THIS PIN MUST BE CUT ON THE EQ EDGE CONNECTOR BEFORE INSERTING EQS INTRO RACK!!!

doesnt say anthing about 550A's

cheers

Thanks for that.
Yes I have the same sticker.
Somewhere I got my wires crossed ('scuse the pun) and thought this also related to the 550A.
So when I turn on my rack later tonight you guys aren't to blame if my 550A's go pfffft?
