I'm selling a JP6 that is a bit scrappy - 2 or 3 broken keys,
a couple of plastic fader knobs need to be replaced - can they be found/bought ?
I have no idea what JP6's go for these days in normal condition - so need to work backwards from this price.
Can you synth freaks please help me?
Its in the for sale section now

Pictures would help.. I know you are pretty busy right now tho.
Failing pictures, apart from smashed keys and missing fader caps... How is the face of it? (rust, scratches)
And, does it work perfectly?
Jup 6's don't seem to come up much on eBay locally, And I couldn't even find any completed listings for a jup6.
I'd prob guestimate $1800 for one in good working condition.
Petes music mart in newtown sold one for $2300 from memory.. That was about a year ago.
Hope that helps.
I like restoring old synths.. I seriously do. I get to purchase something that's broken, and restore it to it's former glory, and learn while doing it.
I just restored a SCI Studio 440 back to spec. I'm chuffed.

Having never owned one, I'm not too sure.
They seem to have a good reliability track record... Thirteen would be the expert here.

There are a bunch of custom chips in there, but they can be found. Generally a very reliable machine.

Fully working in ok condition I'd expect $1800 tops... In fact I wouldn't be surprised to see it go for less on ebay. But haven't seen one for over a year...
Poor old 6 is definitely the least hyped of the jp family.

I paid $1750 for mine with Europa in it, back about 3-4 years ago. Mine is not very clean looking - appears
to be heavily gigged, so I know a fresh looking one will go for more. I need to get mine serviced
and tweaked a bit. I would like to find a way to clean up or replace the buttons on mine, as they have lost their
colour.
Europa makes this synth a lot more versatile than you think - it turns the JP6 into something
quite excellent.

It is a replacement CPU for the JP6 that supplies full MIDI support with all sliders and controls
transmitting and receiving MIDI, much like a 106. It also allows full control over the oscillator mod and
sync routings and expands the arpeggiator to allow more interesting patterns etc... also more patch memory,
velocity sensitivity over MIDI and more...
Google on Synthcom Europa fpr more info on getting one!

Wow - That is pretty damn cool - and not too pricey, gives the machine a new lease on life
It also seems like great tech service from the company
I have always felt the arpeggiator was a bit lame on the JP6, as I loved the JP8's random function.
Maybe I will keep the old girl and give her a new heart?
Decisions to be made.
Thanks for the tip Rachel

For what it's worth I paid $2,300 for mine and that was about what they were going for a couple of years ago.
There hasn't been any for sale for ages since I got mine when there was about 4 up at the time. Though one has just popped up at the moment - should give you an idea how much they're going for now.

Re: Whats a JP6 worth these days?
we should play ebay roulette. I reckon this one will go for about $2500 or maybe more. The europa preinstalled
adds a lot to the value. It is also in much better condition than mine, visually. What makes me cranky is the 808
with the crazy price on it. I passed up on one in Aceben in the CBD about 2003 and it sold in the window for 1000
with the plastic dust cover on it!

I just checked:
$1,913.88
That is a pretty good price - mine is not very nice looking by comparison.
