Hey guys,
My name is JD. I've just Moved down to Melbourne from Byron bay, and am looking for work at recording studios (anywhere in Oz).
I've been an assistant engineer at studios 301 Byron Bay for nearly the past 2 years and have also worked at various other studios/live venues in the past.
- I'm a fluent a fluent pro tools user and have experience working on various consoles including SSL, Neve and Digidesign D control series.
- I also provide pro tools editing services (Vocal tuning [Melodyne], Comping, Drum/Bass/guitar editing, etc)
- highly familiar with the studios workflow
(And i've also been complimented for having good coffee making skills )

I know there are only a select few jobs available, but its best to try all means possible to get my foot back into the game.
I've got the drive and skill for the field, and i'm sure the right opportunity will come up sooner rather than later

There are jobs around but the better money is in broadcast and advertising. I was a bit amazed at a keen newly out of school audio enthusiast I helped about 5 yrs ago. I just gave him a bit of encouragement and showed him my method of working at a few live gigs. He then did an audio coarse....SAE i think, .......then he gets a job at a Melb TV station...hard work re pressure, and he did well. Within a year he moves to an even higher pressure role doing audio in the news room. He is now earning more than i do and has started a studio as a "hobby 2nd income" in a converted warehouse that he and a few mates also live in. I am totally impressed with how he has found a niche.

Thanks for the Suggestion Chris, it does make a lot of sense
I'll definitely look into the broadcast side of things too.
