Thomas Dolby Live in Sydney

Postby Ultrasoniq » Mon Feb 13, 2012 11:15 am

For those of you who haven't heard, Thomas Dolby is appearing live at Notes in Newtown, tonight, Monday 13 Feb and tomorrow, Tuesday 14 Feb.

It's his first ever visit to Australia, so we finally get a chance to see this master songsmith, producer and synth pioneer perform up close and personal!

The show tonight is an interview between Thomas and Fairlight founder, Peter Vogel, conducted by Tim Ritchie of ABC Radio National "Sound Quality" fame, see http://noteslive.net.au/events/blinded- ... eter-vogel

The show tomorrow is a live performance interspersed with personal anecdotes and stories, see http://noteslive.net.au/events/thomas-d ... n-taberner

If you already have a ticket, pm me because I can get you another one free!

Thomas is my all-time favourite electronic musician and producer!

Check out this early 80's performance of "She Blinded Me With Science" - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F3oMGlQXhHA featuring:

Fairlight CMI Series IIx - Brass and Vocal effects
PPG Wave 2.3 and Roland Jupiter 8 - Strings
Roland Jupiter 4 - Bass

I had a great time too! Thomas's talent just seems to have deepened and broadened over the years so it was an absolute treat to hear some of his new material as well as the old favourites.

The ABC shot the first night and will be making it into a programme and some of the footage from the second night should be available on the Fairlight Instruments website soon, see http://fairlightinstruments.com.au/
