I sold a few synths the moment I got my D50, as it out classed them in lots if ways.
Some people think the JD800 sounds the same, but to me, the D50 has a much darker tone and way less crystalline.
The fact the D50 has PWM on potentially all 4 of it's oscillators / partials is what makes it a supreme pad monster.
Couple that with its built in chorus, and your laughing.
(it does also have built in reverb and delay, but I don't dig them that much and prefer to use outboard for my reverbs)
It is also the classic 'new age' synth.. Lol.. And has featured in every single nature documentary sound track ever made. Lol
It pretty much defined the sound of 1986-1988.. That can be a good or bad thing however you look at it.
