Have you had a look at touch osc? http://hexler.net/software/touchosc

You'd unfortunately likely need an intermediary step (on the other end of the wifi connection) or hack it http://www.osculator.net/2010/07/19/osc ... onnection/ and use a midi to usb connector.

Wonder if a cheap hardware set of pads mightn't be easier by this point though?

I control my PPG Wave 2.3 from my iPad via it's built in wireless MIDI, I connect my laptop to the PPG with a cheap USB MIDI interface and then control the PPG via it over WiFi. It's all built into the Mac and iPad OS.

Hi Steve, what software are you using to control the PPG?

Yeah cheap pads could work too

What's a good cheap option with atleast 9 pads and 2 faders? Midi needs to be set and forget so it responds to the cc values I determine.

If there is. Cheap iPod conversion kit, I.e USB midi that's cool too. I wonder if there is latency

Steve that sounds cool but I'd like to use it onstage where there is no wifi. Just picked up this iPad and seeing where she can fit into my set if at all

I use an iconnect midi interface that is wired and has a very fast transmission speed. It works like a charm for editing my old synths via iPad.

The plus with touchosc is that you're completely free to build / customize your own interface - but the stupid thing is I don't think it will work with the iconnect (from memory it really wants to work via a wifi). You could still do this onstage with a laptop + private wireless network but it's a lot of hassle / points where something could go wrong.

Alternatively (and more expensively) I think the Lemur app will work with iConnect http://liine.net/en/products/lemur/specifications

I have not Played around with touch osc, though i did look into it but decided to hang the expense and purchase the icontrolmidi apps.

Most of them are really cheap and while they look bland, all the hard work has been done. The other reason is that they are closing down as of Jan 2013 and i wanted to get the apps just in case my touch osc skills weren't up to par.

I was hoping to reverse engineer their stuff to touch osc (or a hardware controller) if i can.

Thirteen and Nigel - that's clever stuff, you've got this luddite interested.

I just popped over to the icontrol website - the graphical user interface is mind-numbing, what a shame. Not even as nice as the old SoundDiver modules...

I did that for my AdrenaLinn - bought the software editor (I think it was SoundTower?) which was actually too flaky to use reliably, but used it to build a custom editor for my old Peavey PC1600 fader box, which is solid (excuse the pun).

I got the icontrolmidi app for my ppg evu-which is an expander and has editing controls. It was tge easiest way to get into it but it would be best to get a hardware controller for most of the functions (there's not that many)

It would be a big plus for any rack synth or mid 80's knobless synths such as jx8p. Their DX-7 editor may also be cool. Like i said, they are pulling all the apps down from itunes jan 2013. It's hard not to think that the demand was not as great as they would have hoped and they are taking their toy and going home in a sulk.

I took a look at icontrolmidi about a year ago and thought they were expensive apps.
I then bought a Rekon editor (no demo) which was a disastrous mistake. Didn't work.
I'm sort of sceptical about vintage synth editor apps now.

The two that i have work 100% for the synths that i'm using them with.

There are a some minor issues but they're clearly stated from the start. Nothing at all like Sounddiver etc...
