cajon

Let's talk about kits and mics, new and old. What are you using? What do you want? What's the difference?

Can anyone recommend a cajon, with snares.

Whats a good model (you know, the les paul or strat or shure of the cajon world)?

i've never heard a particularly amazing cahon tbh. They are a box, with a sound hole more or less.
Most of them sound ridiculously dull, or slappy without much tone.
It is an instrument born of street culture after all. you could make one and attach snares to it? if you're handy at all. Use a nice resonant wood, used for drums, u should be laughin.

fair enough on the DIY...

its just that even the dearest one I can find is about 400 bucks with heaps of them around 100 to that mark.

I dont really want to build it, if I can get something for a few hundred that is done and sounds good already

but, point taken.

thanks

See 1 thread down Peter - there are some Oz manufacturers mentioned.

Pearl has just released one with tamborine jingles - where will it all end? :-@
