It does sound damn good, and that's from someone that's not historically a fan of the DSI sound.

Sounds good on the demo. Hopefully more robust than the previous machines, no strain relief on the pots and jacks made the earlier synths prone to breakage. Let's hope it has pots rather than rotary encoders too.

It's a mixture of the two apparently. depending on function.

Re: Prophet 12
Anyone seen one in the wild in Australia yet? I'm looking at buying one in the next week or two, but I don't know if they are actually in the country yet. I'm south of Perth (no local dealer here to my knowledge?), but I've been looking at Eastern states sites, and while they advertise them, there seems to be no indication as to whether they are actually physically in stock yet or not.
About a month ago I asked a few stores to send me an email with more information as to when they would arrive, but sadly never heard anything back from any of them.
I got stung with waiting months and months for the Arturia Minibrute, so I'm a bit hesitant to drop over $3k on a synth until I have firm evidence that it is in the country.

Re: Prophet 12
Well I've had mine for a couple of days now. Woke up about 1 AM last night and stayed with the machine until dawn, lost in the endless possibilities, and a red glow that lights up a dark room like the bridge of the Starship Enterprise.
I really, really love this synth.
If you press the Latch + Hold buttons together, it brings up a basic Init patch, and from there on in it is just so intuitive, but even just grabbing at random knobs is a joy. I made about 10 programs last night that walk all over any software synth patch I've ever made. The bright OLED screen makes it so easy to save and name patches.
The only analog synth I have to compare it to is my Arturia Minibrute, and it sounds much diffeent to that. Not worse, just different. But it does about 100x more, and the filters are far more useable.
I can still smell the oil on the Bubinga wood panels, I'm in love...

Not sure, I got mine shipped to WA from Music Lab in Brisbane last week, #372. They only get one in at a time and put it on display until it sells, I think that they are still in pretty short supply.

I had a demo with one some weeks ago, sounded great and certainly a far more solid build quality that it's predecessors.
